Chicago Mayor, Brandon Johnson stated that the “Trump administration has called for local police departments around the country to behave as ICE agents”…”In sanctuary cities that is not permissible”.
Tom Homan responded on Fox news – “No ones asking them to make his officers ICE agents”…”We’re asking to let us in Cook County jail…give us access to the bad guy, the guy you locked in a jail cell…when you don’t give us access to the bad guy in the safety and security of a jail where everybody is safe, you force me into the neighborhood…it puts him at risk, my officers at risk, and the community at risk.”
Opinion: It seems perfectly reasonable to allow the Federal Govt. to remove illegal immigrant prisoners for deportation. Why would we use taxpayer dollars to take care of a criminal who shouldn’t have been here in the first place? Hopefully, these sanctuary city mayors and Governors will come around to at least that part of it, like NYC Mayor Eric Adams has.
