Trump Announces Peace Talks Between Russia and Ukraine After Calls with Putin and Zelenskyy

President Trump announced that he has initiated peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine following separate phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump described his conversation with Putin as “lengthy and highly productive,” covering topics including Ukraine, energy, artificial intelligence, and the U.S. dollar.

Both leaders agreed on the need to end the ongoing war, with Putin endorsing Trump’s campaign motto, “COMMON SENSE.”

Following his discussion with Putin, Trump spoke with Zelenskyy, who he said also desires peace.

Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will represent the U.S. in a meeting scheduled for Friday in Munich to advance the peace talks.
